BodyTx FAQ's

I have never had a massage before and don't know what  I need.

We are definitely here to help! If you have never had a massage before, we will first ask if you are coming in with a specific condition that needs to be addressed or just to get a relaxing treatment. From there, we will be able to match you with the therapist who best meets your needs. We normally suggest 60 minute treatments for first time adult clients, and 30 minute treatments for first time minor clients.

Practitioner Info

Do you direct bill?

We direct bill most insurance companies.

Alberta Blue Cross, Manitoba Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross (VAC&RCMP), Sun Life, Great West Life, Manulife, Chamber of Commerce, Cowan, Industrial Alliance, Johnson Inc, Maximum Benefit, Johnston Group, Standard Life, CINUP, First Canadian

Equitable Health/Life, Co-operators, NextGenRx, Green Shield Canada, FAS & your vehicle insurance for Motor Vehicle Accidents.

Can you run my insurance to find out how much I get covered?

This is tricky as not all insurance companies let us run Pre-Authorizations, so the best advice we always give is to call your insurance company and ask them (we cannot call them on your behalf for privacy reasons):

  1. Can my plan be direct billed?
  2. Do I need a doctor's note?
  3. What does my plan cover?

This way you are not surprised if direct billing cannot be processed when you come in for your treatment.

What order of treatments should I do Chiro, Physio, Massage and Acupuncture?

Nothing is set in stone as to an order; however, we recommend: Physiotherapy > Acupuncture > Massage > Chiropractor

Labor prep & Induction Acupuncture?

How far along and how often?

Labor prep 35-38 weeks (weekly)

Induction 38+ weeks (2-3 days)

Can I get last year’s receipts?

Yes, we can print or email a statement of accounts that will show how much you paid for your treatments. We can do this for any time frame.

I was in an MVA and need massage or acupuncture, what do I need?

We can direct bill your insurance company but you must have a request from a doctor, physiotherapist or chiropractor sent in to your insurance company once you are approved for treatment you can book by calling or booking online.

Do I have to remove all my clothing for massage therapy?

We will ask you to undress only to your comfort level.

How often should I have massage or acupuncture treatments?

Some people believe that one treatment is enough; however, massage therapy or acupuncture is most beneficial in acute conditions when used over a series of treatments (weekly) and then followed up with maintenance or preventive treatments (every 1-2 months).

Can I pay for a future treatment for someone else today?

Yes, you can pay for any future appointment but receipts can only be given once the treatment has been completed.
